MEK: Iran Regime’s Cover-Up Has Resulted in Over 30,000 Coronavirus Deaths

Iran: Coronavirus Fatalities in 294 Cities Exceed 30,000

According to the People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI, Mujahedin-e Khalq or MEK), the coronavirus has claimed 30,000 lives in Iran as of Thursday.

Among the shocking reports from Iran in this regard, an article by the state-run Arman daily on Thursday quoting labor children reads: “We can’t stay at home because hunger is more deadly than the Coronavirus, and you can’t stay quarantined on an empty stomach.” According to the regime’s Ministry of Labor, 409,000 active child laborers have been identified, most of whom work as peddlers, selling flowers, fortune-tellers, and some are garbage collectors. Garbage collecting children are still working these days; they can be seen searching the trash in one out of every five trash bins. This happens while in other countries governments are extending quarantining periods along with helping the poor. In Iran, the regime not only continues its deception and cover-up and deception, it has forced people to go back to work.

In this regard, Mrs. Maryam Rajavi, the president-elect of the National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI), said: “The massacre of the brave MEK and rebellious youth by the religious theocracy has now been extended to the mass murder of this nation’s children amid the Coronavirus tragedy. The only way out is to uproot the evil clerical regime and cleanse our homeland from the Coronavirus and the mullahs’ virus.”

Recently, the regime’s supreme leader Ali Khamenei, called the coronavirus a “blessing and test,” demonstrating his regime’s intentions of not helping the Iranian people. He said: As for the current issue of the country – the coronavirus outbreak – well, this is an epidemic and a test. There have been greater tests, we have witnessed some in our country. This is not something extraordinary. These incidents happen in countries, although I’m not trying to undermine this issue, but we shouldn’t enlarge it. This is something that has happened and will be gone. Yet the experiences we will gain from this test, people and organizations’ activities could turn into an opportunity. If we keep these opportunities this test will turn into blessing and this threat will turn into an opportunity.”

The regime’s founder, Ruhollah Khomeini, also considered the anti-patriotic war with Iraq as a blessing. Therefore, it continued the war for eight years, killing one million Iranian citizens, paralyzing two million and displacing two million Iranians. The regime’s Ministry of Education announced on January 5, 1989, that during the war, it had sent 440,000 students to the front lines on minefields. Until recently, on October 30, the regime held a memorial service for 36,000 students who were killed by being sent to the fronts, under the pretext of “Memorial Day of Basiji Students.

Khomeini feared his regime’s immediate downfall, due to the increasing social outrage against the Iran-Iraq war in Iran, the NCRI’s international campaign of promoting peace with Iraq and operations by the National Liberation Army. Thus, he was forced to accept a ceasefire with Iraq. Immediately, however, he ordered the massacre of thousands of political prisoners mostly members and supporters of the MEK to eliminate any possibility of opposition

Now engulfed with crises, particularly after the Iran protests in November and January and an unprecedented international isolation, the regime, fearing a social turmoil makes all efforts to avoid its downfall. But the restive Iranian society, the current situation of the Iranian resistance and regime’s position will indeed ultimately end in its downfall. In other words, the regime might delay its downfall with killing and oppression, but due to its domestic and international isolation and deadlock the regime is doomed to fall.
