Gjelok Marko: Welcome to Albania, Mr. Blinken!
Mr. Blinken,
We consider your visit a great honor and we warmly welcome you. However, we have a deep concern and with great respect we want to draw your attention to one fact:
After the end of the Second World War, you, the Americans, were deeply loved and warmly welcomed by the people in France, Italy, Greece, and all other countries wherever you had come as liberators. All these countries and their people were very grateful to you for the blood you had shed and for the freedom you had brought to them. But unfortunately, over the years, as you know, many things changed. Today it cannot be said that the Americans, the political representatives of the USA are received with the same love and enthusiasm by the people in Italy, France, Greece, etc. etc., just like immediately after the World War Two on the contrary, anti-Americanism is quite a widespread phenomenon, even in the nations, countries where the Americans came as liberators during the Second World War. Why? As you also know, on this issue there are many comments, analyzes and opinions that express different points of view, but almost all of them agree the main cause of these developments is the fact that after the War the politicians and representatives of the American state in the above-mentioned countries, who officially propagated the principles of justice and truth, actually supported the most corrupt and immoral politicians of these countries. This caused that, over the years, love and gratitude towards U.S. Government were gradually replaced by disappointment, open opposition and even hatred, which today in certain groups and places has degenerated into the mentality of anti-Americanism. This mentality today looks not only with suspicion but also with prejudice, denial and even hatred to everything and everyone who comes from or is related to the USA.
A very tragic development. For this reason, even in some European countries, military bases and the American presence are not welcome, etc., etc.
Unfortunately, we see that the same mistakes are being repeated in Albania. Today, the USA Government supports Prime Minister Edi Rama. The problem is that there are many people and many arguments that prove that Prime Minister Edi Rama is one of the most corrupt politicians that Albania has ever had.
To solve the problem of corruption, you offer us the SPAK (special prosecutor’s office) as a solution.
The problem is that there are facts that show that SPAK, instead of fighting corruption, supports the most corrupt politician of Albania, Prime Minister Edi Rama. Many respectable resources declare that SPAK helps Prime Minister Edi Rama to fight and neutralize his political opponents and “discipline” the “rebels,” the “internal enemies” of the Socialist Party.
Dear Mr. Blinken!
Please verify these facts carefully. It would be a very tragic error if you and the US Government supported the wrong, the corrupt politicians. This would open the door of many disappointments and misunderstandings among the Albanian people. We do not want to damage the image of the American government and your image as its representative among the Albanian people.
Respectfully
Gjelok Marko
