Milatovic: Vucic should have chosen his words better, Gorcevic’s statement in parliament a mere political platitude; Mandic owes an answer
Prime Minister is the one who should have responded to the public attacks of the President of Serbia, Aleksandar Vucic, on the Montenegrin Minister of European Affairs, Maida Gorcevic. I would do it if I were in his place, the President of Montenegro, Jakov Milatovic, noted.
“I hear her statement, but according to the protocol, the ministry of foreign affairs of a country shall react, that’s why I didn’t. It’s not up to me.”
As he stated, Vucic’s address wasn’t an appropriate way of communication between the two countries, and “as much as Kosovo is a delicate issue for Serbia, as it is, we must choose the words better”.
“President Vucic must have chosen his words better having in mind his political position towards Montenegro. We must treat political actors in Montenegro and the neighbouring countries with additional respect and appreciation. That’s clear. I protect women. I also protected Draginja Vuksanovic Stankovic, but what Gorcevic said in parliament was a mere political platitude I don’t want to comment,” the President stated.
Asked to comment on the visit of the Montenegro Parliament Speaker, Andrija Mandic, to the military exercise in Serbia, President Milatovic told he had seen in it in the media, didn’t know about the details, adding that Mr Mandic owed an answer to the citizens.
“To the legitimate question – in what capacity did the two attend the exercise. That’s a question they should answer. Mr Mandic is the parliament speaker and also a member of the Defence and Security Council, we’re a NATO Ally, striving for the best relations with all the neighbouring countries, including Serbia, so Mandic should answer this question and I’m sure he will.”
