Vatra Thanks Departing Diplomat Escobar for Working to shape Prishtina Belgrade dialogue

The Pan-Albanian Federation of America Vatra thanks the veteran diplomat for working to shape the Prishtina Belgrade dialogue during his term, preceding his departure to a new assignment. Vatra leaders and community have supported in the past and now the dedication of US Envoy Mr. Escobar to continue the dialogue towards a peace agreement.
In a statement, the State Department has confirmed that Mr. Gabriel Escobar will be transferred into a new role – as part of the routine rotation in the foreign service that occurs procedurally after 1 to 4 years of serving in one position.
Earlier today, at a press conference, Mr. Escobar spoke about the issue of Kosovo’s membership in the Council of Europe, where the US has no vote. “As for the position of the USA, it is clear that Kosovo should be a full member of the EU and NATO and we will continue to work for this. Also, it is important for Kosovo to listen to its European partners and work with them”, said Mr. Escobar. In today’s CE announcement the admission of Kosova to the membership of the Council of Europe is not on the agenda of the meeting of Committee of Ministers on May 16-17.
The ealier announcement by the State Department stated that the US is in alignment with its European partners and continues to be fully committed in actively supporting the EU-facilitated dialogue.
At a briefing today in Washington DC, the Envoy for Western Balkans Gabriel Escobar bid farewell to the press after close to a three-year tenure.
