PM Rama in USA, the PM held meetings with congressmen and senators
Prime Minister Edi Rama, on a diplomatic visit to the USA, attended meetings with members of the senate, congress and some representatives of the Albanian-American community.
“Let us be inspired by the success stories, to make it possible for Albania and Kosovo to be a success story in the Balkans and for the Balkans to be a success story in Europe. Europe badly needs a success story now and who else is better than the Western Balkans to provide that story. Let’s make our story a reality! “-said Rama.
Congressman Charles Rangel declared that all Albanians who live in the US are ambassadors of their country. Senator Mark Kirk stated that Albania-American relations should continue to be strengthened.
“It’s a special friendship, a friendship that the US and I, personally, appreciate greatly. I am determined to strengthen this excellent relationship”-he said.
Meanwhile, in an interview for “Foreign Policy”, the Prime Minister responded to his critics regarding their view that he is focusing more on the image of Tirana, rather than on the fight against corruption, poverty and unemployment, by saying,
“I think that you cannot solve the problem of poverty without creating the conditions for people to live in a more beautiful space, in a cleaner and dignifying environment”.
The Prime Minister also gave an interview for CNN, where he declared that Donald Trump’s statements are concerning and that he is a threat to the USA if he is elected to be the upcoming president.
Earlier today, the Prime Minister attended a ceremony at the Arlington Cemetery, where he honored US soldiers.
He said that the tribute is a testimony of the Albanians’ respect for the American heroes and a re-confirmation of the partnership between the two countries.
