Fan Noli Cultural Center & Library/ALBANIAN CULTURAL DAY in honor of renowned author Naum Prifti

Discover the life and enduring works of Naum Prifti (1932–2023), a colossus of Albanian literature and an influential Albanian-American voice. On Sunday, June 28, 2026, Fan Noli Cultural Center will explore his fascinating journey from his medical education to a Philology graduate from the University of Tirana, eventually writing nearly 100 diverse works across scripts, children’s books, and plays. His insightful short stories, which brilliantly depicted the harsh daily realities of post-war Albania, have earned his work frequent comparisons to the great masters for their nonconformity.

The afternoon will feature presentations on his literary legacy, a special screening of animated films, bilingual readings in English and Albanian, and delightful conversations for all ages. You can also test your knowledge of Prifti’s fables and characters through an interactive trivia session.

Bring your whole family to explore the rich cultural heritage championed by one of Albania’s finest literary voices.

The perfect finale to a literary afternoon: the comforting nostalgia of traditional Albanian cooking.

Learn more about his background through the New York Times Obituary and discover the cultural honors detailing his legacy at the Albania’s Academy of Science commemoration ceremony.
