Thomas Simaku – Video Recording in Sweden
Following the world premiere in Stockholm on 20 November 2021, Anders Paulsson has launched a video recording of Soliloquy VI as part of the Solitary Poems – an international project involving a numbers of composers from different countries who have written pieces for soprano saxophone during the lockdown.
Recorded in the ‘sacred’ place of Uppsala Cathedral and produced by Markus Heggestad, Soliloquy VI video was launched on 1 February 2022.

As the title suggests, this piece is part of a cycle of works exploring the individual expression and virtuosity of a numbers of instruments, which Thomas Simaku has been engaged with for more than two decades now. Soliloquy I for Violin received its first performance at the 2000 ISCM – World Music Days in Luxembourg and was described as ‘a piece of unaccompanied violin writing which brings out the instrument’s genius for passionate expression’.
Seven works have so far been recorded, including Soliloquy V – Flauto Acerbo – commissioned by Chris Orton and the BBC Performing Arts Fund. It received a British Composer Award, and was described by the judging panel as a work, which ‘redefines the instrument in a visionary and entirely original way’; whereas Soliloquy VII for Clarinet was completed during the composer’s residency at the Dora Maar House in Provence, supported by the Brown Foundation in Houston, USA. Written for the soloist of the Ensemble Intercontemporain in Paris, Jérôme Comte, the piece was recorded in the Sir Jack Lyons concert hall of the University of York.
Professor Thomas Simaku is currently writing a piece for solo trumpet for Clément Saunier, commissioned by the Ensemble Intercontemporain with the support of Diaphonique – Franco-British fund for classical contemporary music.

Saksofonisti suedez i njohur ndërkombëtarisht Anders Paulsson ka bërë një video incizim në Suedi të Soliloquy VI të Thomas Simakut për Soprano Saksofon.
Pas premierës botërore në Stokholm më 20 nëntor 2021, Anders Paulsson ka lançuar një video-incizim të Soliloquy VI si pjesë e Poezive të vetmuara – një projekt ndërkombëtar që përfshin një numër kompozitorësh nga vende të ndryshme që kanë shkruar pjesë për saksofon soprano gjatë bllokimit.
E regjistruar në vendin e ‘shenjtë’ të Katedrales së Uppsalas dhe prodhuar nga Markus Heggestad, video e Soliloquy VI u lançua më 1 shkurt 2022.

Siç sugjeron edhe titulli, kjo pjesë është pjesë e një cikli veprash që eksplorojnë shprehjen individuale dhe virtuozitetin e një sërë instrumentesh, me të cilat Thomas Simaku është angazhuar për më shumë se dy dekada. Soliloquy I for Violin mori performancën e tij të parë në 2000 ISCM – Ditët Botërore të Muzikës në Luksemburg dhe u përshkrua si “një pjesë e shkrimit të violinës pa shoqërim që nxjerr në pah gjenialitetin e instrumentit për shprehje pasionante”.
Deri më tani janë regjistruar shtatë vepra, duke përfshirë Soliloquy V – Flauto Acerbo – porositur nga Chris Orton dhe Fondi i Arteve Performuese të BBC-së. Ai mori një çmim për kompozitorin britanik dhe u përshkrua nga trupi gjykues si një vepër, e cila ‘ripërcakton instrumentin në një mënyrë vizionare dhe tërësisht origjinale’; ndërsa Soliloquy VII për Klarinetë u përfundua gjatë qëndrimit të kompozitorit në Shtëpinë Dora Maar në Provence, mbështetur nga Fondacioni Brown në Hjuston, SHBA. E shkruar për solistin e Ansamblit Intercontemporain në Paris, Jérôme Comte, pjesa u regjistrua në sallën e koncerteve Sir Jack Lyons të Universitetit të York-ut.
Profesor Thomas Simaku aktualisht është duke shkruar një pjesë për trumpetë solo për Clément Saunier, porositur nga Ansambli Intercontemporain me mbështetjen e Diaphonique – Fondi Franko-Britan të muzikës klasike bashkëkohore.
