FRIENDS OF THE JEWISH MUSEUM OF KOSOVO in partnership with American Sephardi Federation, Embassy of Kosovo and B’nai Tzedek Congregation are hosting a film screening: “The Righteous Gypsy” with director Jakov Sedlar on NOVEMBER 17, AT 7:00 PM (Doors open at 6:30 pm)

“Dr. Anna Kohen, recipient of Civil Merit Medal from Albania’s President and former President of Albanian-American Women’s Organization Motrat Qiriazi, has been instrumental in putting together the event. She has been assisted by two women activist,” said to Dielli Ines Demiri, First Secretary at the Consulate General of the Republic of Kosovo in New York.
There will be an award presentation to Gjergj Preng Uli in honor of his father’s heroism rescuing Jews during WWII. Imam Tahir Kukaj of the Albanian Islamic Cultural Center and Rabbi Robert Kaplan, Director of the Center for Community Leadership at Jewish Council Community Relations New York will be guest speakers. Following the ceremony there will be a ‘sweet’ reception with authentic Balkan and European desserts.
On November 18 at 3 pm and 8 pm the screenings will take place at the Center for Jewish History with the Embassy of Kosovo. Director and Screenplay by Jakov & Dominik Sedlar, Pravednica Ciganka (The Righteous Gypsy, 2016, 32 min) is the story of the only Gypsy woman honored by Israel as “Righteous among the Nations”.
