Iran: Demonstration and Clashes Between Farmers and Repressive Forces Continues

On Friday, thousands of farmers in the cities of eastern Isfahan marched and staged a massive demonstrations to get their water rights. There were a number of farmers who had put on shrouds that were written on them: “We stand to the last drop of our blood.” They chanted: “Rouhani, the liar, Zayandeh Rud is our rights”; “Even if we die, we will take our rights”; “Irresponsible authorities, shame on you; shame on you.”

The riot guard attacked protesters with tear gas and shotgun, but the farmers resisted against them. Seven of Varzaneh youths were injured and some other were injured and beaten as a result of this attack. The people defended themselves with wooden sticks and rocks. The repressive forces arrested a number of protesting farmers.

Simultaneously, the people of Zizar and Ezhiyeh in the east of Esfahan also held a protest rally. The demonstration of the Ezhiyeh people was attacked by the police and turned into clashes. The protesters chanted: “Oh fighters of eastern Isfahan, be ready! We are ready!” The clashes between the Ezhiyeh people and the repressive forces lasted for hours. The brave youth of Ezhiyeh forced the repressive forces to retreat by burning rubber tires and with rocks and wooden sticks. A number of riot guards were wounded in these clashes. The protesters threw stones at the vehicle of the Friday prayer Imam of the city and broke its windows.

At night, people in Varzaneh protested outside the police station against the arrest of their fellow citizens, and the repressive forces were forced to release the arrested people.

Mrs. Maryam Rajavi saluted the protesting farmers of eastern Isfahan and condemned the criminal crackdown by repressive forces, calling on all the people, especially the brave youth, to support the protesting farmers, especially the wounded.
